LocationEast Sussex – St-Leonards-on-Sea (Office base in Hastings covering Hastings/Rother)
Compensation£27,942 per year plus additional allowances:
- £1,000 essential car user allowance per year
- £800 Rough Sleepers Allowance per year
- Unsociable Hours shift allowance (£4.40 per shift)
37 hours per week, including two early‑morning shifts (5:00 am in summer or 6:00 am in winter, Monday–Friday) and daytime shifts (9:00–5:00 pm, Monday–Friday).
What you’ll be doingAs a Housing Support Specialist you will work alongside a multi‑agency team to support people experiencing homelessness, particularly those who are rough sleeping in Hastings/Rother. Your role includes early‑morning street outreach, move‑on and tenancy support, and trauma‑informed care. You will help clients address substance dependency, mental and physical health needs, domestic abuse, and other barriers to housing.
Responsibilities- Provide early‑morning street outreach to rough sleeping individuals in Hastings/Rother.
- Support clients through move‑on, tenancy, and long‑term housing engagement.
- Offer flexible, trauma‑informed support tailored to each client’s needs.
- Coordinate with health, social care, and other agencies to deliver comprehensive support.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress.
- Available to work unsociable hours (2 early‑morning shifts per week).
- Empathetic, person‑centred care approach.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (paid by Southdown).
- Full driving licence and access to a car (or provision for a car insured for you).
- Knowledge of complex support needs in homelessness, mental health, and substance misuse.
- Awareness of the causes of rough sleeping and barriers to service engagement.
- Experience in supported housing or homelessness settings.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex mental health needs.
