Join the Environment Agency as a Process and Chemical Engineering Industry Placement 2026 – a 12‑month placement starting September 2026. You’ll work with our Regulated Industry teams supporting UK businesses to reduce environmental impacts and improve process safety, and gain hands‑on experience that could lead to future career opportunities.
Support you can count onFrom day one you’ll have a mentor and office buddy, join a career entrant community, attend a welcome event, and have the opportunity to join the Environment Agency’s Chemical Engineering group for peer support and technical development.

During your placement you’ll gain experience in- Data management and analysis

We’re looking for genuine interest in the environment, curiosity, flexibility, determination, and a Chemical or Process Engineering degree accredited by IChemE.

Experience doesn’t have to come from paid work alone – volunteering, sports teams or social clubs count.
Eligibility Criteria- UK, Commonwealth or EEA national with right to work in the UK.
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree or integrated master’s program, in penultimate year of study, or graduated within the last year (from June 2025 onwards).
