Job Overview

Hours of work:
Part-time, 3 days per week, start in January or April 2026. Teach Key Stage 3 and 4 Music.

The Hastings Academy is the most improved school in Hastings. We provide 900 pupils with well‑rounded citizenship, respect for others and a positive difference to the world. We host a special facility for up to 10 young people with speech, language and communication difficulties.

We have a systematic approach to well‑being embedded in the culture of the school – “Well‑Being by Design”. All teaching staff are entitled to one afternoon of remote PPA per week. Professional growth is developmental with a rich coaching offer. We offer one after‑school event per week, well‑being ambassadors, discounted gym memberships, cycle‑to‑work, complimentary food and a redesigned calendar with two balanced 7‑week half terms.

• Teach engaging music lessons that give outstanding learning experiences for Key Stage 3 and 4.
• Use enthusiasm, authority and confidence in the delivery of lessons.
• Collaborate with the music team and local venues to deliver regular concert opportunities for students.
• Support the well‑being and progress of every student.

• Genuine passion for helping every student discover their love of music.
• Strong enthusiasm, authority and confidence in teaching.
• Experience working with students and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team.
• Experience in planning and delivering lesson plans and promoting student well‑being.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018. The successful candidate will demonstrate to the school by completing a self‑declaration form that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.
