Project Accountant

Soni is partnering with a growing real estate and construction company to hire a Project Accountant to support the financial management of multiple active construction projects. This role will work closely with project teams and finance leadership to ensure accurate job costing, budgeting, billing, and financial reporting throughout the lifecycle of each project.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, solving problems, and taking ownership of project accounting responsibilities.

• Assist with creating and maintaining project budgets and tracking costs against estimates
• Monitor and analyze project costs, identifying variances and trends
• Prepare and maintain project financial reports, including cost-to-complete and cash flow tracking
• Process subcontractor invoices, manage retainage, and review payment applications
• Prepare owner billings and loan draw requests
• Review contracts, change orders, and subcontractor agreements
• Ensure proper documentation including COIs, lien waivers, and compliance paperwork
• Support month-end close activities related to construction projects
• Maintain organized project files and accounting records
• Collaborate with project managers and finance leadership on financial performance
• Support system improvements and reporting needs as the company continues to scale

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-based accounting
• Strong understanding of debits and credits and general accounting principles
• Experience with job costing, budgets, and project financial tracking
• Strong proficiency in Excel (data analysis, reporting, and organization)
• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment
• Ability to work collaboratively with both finance and non‑finance teams

• Experience with Sage, Procore, Textura, or similar construction/ERP systems
• Familiarity with loan draw processes or lender reporting
• Prior experience in multifamily or commercial construction accounting

$75,000 - $80,000

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job‑related qualifications.
