Closing date: 20 March 2026

This is an exciting opportunity for a child and adolescent consultant psychiatrist to become involved in transformation and leadership within a forward‑looking CAMHS service at Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. The role offers the chance to shape the service and support professional growth.

Durham Tees Valley Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services work with children and young people up to 18 across a range of teams, including neurodevelopmental assessments and specialist services. The service is supported by a 24/7 crisis team and home‑treatment options.

The Getting More Help team is based at Dover House, Hartlepool, with good transport links and free car parking for staff.

Main duties

The post holder will offer mental‑health assessment, psychiatric opinion, diagnosis and holistic care plans for patients to 18. The Trust expects about two new patient assessments per week, with face‑to‑face contacts totaling approximately 650 per year. Clinical work will be conducted mainly at Dover House, with the possibility of community settings such as schools.

The post holder must be Section 12 approved, preferably with Approved Clinician status. The Trust will support securing these approvals if not already in place.

Clinical supervision of at least eight hours per year is required, delivered either face‑to‑face or remotely via secure MS Teams.
