OverviewThe Department of Buildings & General Services (BGS) is seeking a Custodian III in the Windsor Superior Court in White River Junction.
ResponsibilitiesThe position will function as a team lead and will plan, organize, and direct work for a crew of building custodians. Additional duties include participating in hiring and evaluating custodial employees, training employees on new work methods and procedures, and may oversee or participate in snow removal, grounds keeping, and recycling.
The position requires successful completion of background checks and a valid driver’s license.
HoursMonday through Friday from 2 pm to 10:30 pm.

Environmental FactorsDuties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50 lbs is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.
Minimum Qualifications- Two (2) years or more of building custodial work that included floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.
- OR two (2) years as a BGS Custodian II.
- Some positions in this class require a valid driver’s license and own transportation for travel between work locations.
- Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
