Compensation

Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.

As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance‑based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers Data Engineering team constructs pipelines that contextualize and provide easy access to data by the entire enterprise. As a Senior Associate Data Engineer you will help guide growth and transformation of our analytics landscape. You will leverage your ability to design, build and deploy data solutions that capture, explore, transform, and utilize data to support Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and business intelligence/insights.

What Will You Do?

Travelers is seeking a creative problem solver to join a small, hands‑on team leveraging emerging technologies to solve real‑world business problems. We’re looking for someone who gets excited about new technologies and the possibilities they create. You’ll be working alongside a team that turns curiosity into innovation, building proof‑of‑concepts that explore what’s next. The right candidate will feel at home writing code, eager to learn, and driven by the challenge of solving problems that don’t have obvious solutions.

You love translating ideas from whiteboard to working prototypes. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential; we succeed by sharing insights and building on each other’s ideas.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM related field or equivalent.
  • Requirement for 2-3 years of professional experience.
  • Programming & Development:
    Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript programming languages with demonstrated ability to build scalable applications.
  • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning:
    Hands‑on experience with Generative AI models, agentic frameworks, and API prompt engineering / Proven ability to implement tool‑calling mechanisms and optimize AI model interactions.
  • Cloud Infrastructure:
    Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services, specifically S3 storage solutions, Bedrock AI models, and knowledge base implementations.
  • Full‑Stack Development:

    Experience with modern web development technologies including React framework, Mongo

    DB, and Postgre

    SQL database management.
  • Dev Ops & Deployment:
    Familiarity with containerization technologies, particularly Docker, for application deployment and environment management.
  • Portfolio Demonstration: A demonstrable portfolio showcasing personal projects, technical explorations, or innovative solutions that highlight problem‑solving abilities and technical creativity.
  • Nice to Have:
    Adept at utilizing Claude Code, experience experimenting with and fine‑tuning LLM’s, working with graph databases (ex. Neo4j), building or contributing to open‑source projects, and enjoys reading academic papers.
What is a Must Have?
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
  • 1 additional year of software/data engineering experience.
