Hybrid 2-3 days onsite in either Hartford, CT or Short Hills, NJ
As Lead Software Engineer, you will drive technical direction and execution for robust, scalable, and maintainable enterprise software solutions within a cloud-first environment. You will enforce coding standards and architectural principles, lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and foster continuous improvement. You will architect and integrate AI-powered features using Azure AI Services to deliver intelligent solutions aligned with business objectives.
This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $80.00 to $90.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:

- Lead the design, development, and deployment of cloud-native full-stack applications using .NET and Azure with emphasis on scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and architectural guidelines across projects.
- Champion automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform, Bicep, and ARM, and maintain rigorous documentation.
- Architect and integrate AI capabilities using Azure AI Services, including Cognitive Services, Machine Learning, OpenAI, and Bot Services for analytics, NLP, and automation.
- Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor engineers in cloud-native, AI, and agile delivery practices.
- Collaborate with product, QA, and cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and deliver features aligned to business needs.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve productivity, quality, and security.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise software quality, performance, and compliance requirements.
Experience Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on software engineering and architecture with deep knowledge of .NET (C# and ASP.NET Core) and Azure cloud services.
- Advanced proficiency with Azure AI Services to develop and deploy enterprise AI-driven solutions.
- Expertise in microservices, API-first design with REST or Graph
QL, event-driven systems, and container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes. - Proficiency in Dev Ops, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies.
- Strong capability in code reviews, testing, problem solving, and technical leadership.
- Experience integrating AI features via REST APIs or SDKs into business applications.
- Business Process Management implementation experience with Pega (preferred).
- Experience in regulated industries such as Property and Casualty insurance (preferred).
- Experience with Python and familiarity with Tensor Flow or PyTorch (preferred).
- Experience with additional BPM tools such as Camunda or Appian (preferred).
- Experience with front-end frameworks including Angular or React, advanced SQL, and data streaming technologies such as Kafka or Rabbit
MQ (preferred). - Knowledge of data privacy, compliance, and security requirements for cloud and AI adoption (preferred).
- Ability to lead evaluation, implementation, and integration of modeling software into enterprise systems and processes (preferred).
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Azure certification (preferred).
