Job Description

As a Maintenance technician, you’ll be on the front lines providing maintenance expertise on water treatment systems for our water plants in East Hartford Connecticut. This role involves working on a variety of technologies including clarification, dewatering system, media filtration, reverse osmosis (RO). To be successful in this profession, you’ll need to have excellent mechanical, process and electrical know‑how and problem‑solving skills.

Key Characteristics
  • Conduct maintenance and Install/Replace and/or supervise the replacement of proposed equipment.
  • Verify installation is as per drawings.
  • Consult with customer management and operation teams.
  • Excellent mechanical know‑how and problem‑solving skills.
  • Operate, monitor, and optimize equipment performance.
  • Meet with internal and external contributors to communicate schedules and address issues as necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for proper diagnosis of any malfunctioning machinery, general repairs, installs new equipment and systems as directed, and maintains preventative maintenance programs on all assigned machinery.
  • Carry out mechanical, electrical and controls troubleshooting on equipment such as valves, air compressors, ejectors, process pumps, blowers, and instrumentation.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on plant and road equipment on a regular basis.
  • Installs new equipment or rearranges existing equipment as directed.
  • Performs building and ground maintenance as assigned.
  • Practices good safety procedures in order to keep self and others injury free.
  • Follows good housekeeping practices by keeping maintenance and tool storage area neat and clean as well as timely cleanup of work area after each job is completed.
  • Maintains records and reports as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Must be available on call for emergency repairs as needed to keep the plant in good running order.
  • Maintains inventory of spare parts and adequate supply of chemicals and replacement parts.
  • Monitors and maintains chemical injection systems.
  • Assists in other departments and performs various duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely with project teams.
  • Provide customers with informal training around operation and maintenance of their system.

Compensation – The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $$26.44–$28.84 hourly.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED / Home School Certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record history.
  • Ability to gain and maintain access to sites as assigned.
  • Ability and willingness to read documents and implement such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform physical acts such as lifting, climbing, and manual dexterity.
  • Must be certified within the first 90 days of employment in safe operation of forklift trucks as evidenced on the 90‑day evaluation.
Additional Information
  • Flexible on work hours, mostly 2nd (2:30pm - 11:00pm) / 3rd (10:30pm - 6:00am), but may include weekends.
  • Must be available on call for emergency repairs.
