Hourly base pay rate is $29.42 - $44.13/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on location and candidate qualifications. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.

Position
:
Mobile Diesel Technician Level II. The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II performs licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Technician II may perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision and continues to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high performance metrics.
DUTIES
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, air conditioning, engine electronics, and more.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation.
- Identify problems, determine information relevance, and generate/evaluate alternatives.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Work with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve issues, and satisfy expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
- Document work per company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using iOS device and TRAIT app.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work independently and manage daily schedule; maintain productivity and stay within or near Standard Repair Times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals, retrieve PO numbers, and discuss RO findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Maintain the service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience; or alternative combinations such as higher education in related field or 5 years’ related experience.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools needed for duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Must pass DOT pre-employment background screening and DOT physical or have valid DOT medical card with remaining validity; if four months or less, a DOT physical is required.
