Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY

The Journeyman 2-Refrigeration is responsible for installation of refrigeration systems following customer specifications, applicable building code and proper piping practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install and assemble new refrigeration units, components, and systems (including air conditioning and commercial/freezer systems) according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Ensure proper setup, including electrical wiring, plumbing, and refrigerant line connections.
  • Perform routine maintenance on refrigeration systems, ensuring that components like compressors, condensers, and evaporators function efficiently.
  • Clean, lubricate, and inspect refrigeration units to prolong the life of the system and prevent breakdowns.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot, and repair systems as needed.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning refrigeration systems, using test equipment to pinpoint issues and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Analyze and interpret system diagrams and blueprints to resolve problems.
  • Handle refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Ensure proper refrigerant levels and perform recharging as needed.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local codes and regulations, including safety standards for refrigeration work.
  • Ensure safe working practices and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Interact with clients to understand system needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Explain system performance, maintenance requirements, and repairs to customers.
  • Provide recommendations for system upgrades or improvements.

Qualifications JOB REQUIREMENTS Education / Training
  • High school diploma or GED, equivalent work experience and trade or technical school classes.
  • EPA Certification (Type II).
Work Experience / Skills
  • 6+ years of experience in the construction industry preferred and hands on field experience in commercial refrigeration, electrical and/or fixtures construction.
  • Experience in copper brazing, market remodeling.
  • Good driving record.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and ability to wire installations.
  • Knowledge of carpentry.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems and piping of refrigeration equipment.
  • Knowledge of plumbing and pipe fittings, and ability to pipe refrigeration equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to read blueprints on refrigeration, electrical and plumbing.
  • Ability to hang evaporation coils and install overhead hangers.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and good mechanical skills.
  • Knowledge of jobsite safety, ability to oversee work activities to ensure safe work practices and safety rule compliance.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.
  • Ability to use typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, etc.
