Introduction
The State of Connecticut, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Geological Survey invites applications for an experienced geologist to join the team as an Environmental Analyst 3.
This permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week) provides a unique opportunity to work in a small geological survey where scientific contributions play a central role in advancing the understanding of Connecticut’s diverse and complex geology. The role supports bedrock mapping and research initiatives and contributes to the production of authoritative geologic maps, datasets, and publications with lasting statewide value.

Position Highlights
- This position will be located at DEEP headquarters at 79 Em Street, Hartford CT. This position has the opportunity of teleworking and a flexible in office schedule.
- Duties include but not limited to:
- Adhere to the geology mission of the CGNHS (CGS Ch.462 Sec.
24-1 to 24-4). - Oversee technical reviews of quarry geologic source reports and geochemical data therein associated with aggregate for use in concrete under Connecticut General Statutes 22a-349c and 22a-349d.
- Serve as the Principal Investigator on federally funded projects.
- Coordinate geological field surveys and provide technical direction for scientific research, public engagement activities, and professional services.
- Provide scientific support and advice to federal and state government officials, private developers, non-profit organizations, educators, students, the media, and public.
- Foster collaborative relationships with the academic community, municipal stakeholders, Councils of Governments (COGs), State and Federal agencies, non-profits, and the public.
- Collaborate with other State Geological Surveys in the formulation of National earth science policies, programs, and related issues.
- Serve on internal and external State and National committees as a scientific representative of the DEEP and the State of Connecticut.
- Collect, compile, analyze, and preserve data pertaining to the geologic environment.
- Manage the preparation and publication of reports and maps on the geology and natural resources of the State.
