The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is has an anticipated opening for a Staff Attorney 2 to join their team! Within the Legal Services unit of the DPH Legal Office, this Staff Attorney 2 position will report to the DPH Legal Director and will provide legal support primarily to the Environmental Health and Drinking Water Branch. This position may also support other programmatic areas within DPH as needed.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
  • Assist with interpretation of and compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations, conduct legal research, draft legal documents and memorandums, and advise program staff all in support of DPH’s mission to protect and improve the health and safety of Connecticut’s residents; and
  • Assist the DPH Legal Director with various legal issues that arise within the Department including compliance with FOIA, HIPAA, confidentiality, the Code of Ethics, CHRO/employment matters, and review and drafting of legislation and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years of experience in the practice of law.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Incumbents in this class must be admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut.
