The State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is currently hiring for the position of Staff Attorney 2.

Position Highlights

    450 Columbus Blvd, Hartford, CT
  • Hybrid and flex work schedules available
  • Weekend and evening availability may be required to meet agency needs
The Role
  • Responsible for case development, negotiation, and prosecution at administrative hearings focused on the regulation of the pharmaceutical, cannabis and hemp industries
  • Assist with developing and operationalizing policy in the drug control, cannabis, and hemp areas

Our Mission

The mission of the State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is to promote a fair and equitable marketplace and ensure safe products and services for Connecticut Consumers. The department is comprised of several divisions, each of which oversees different industries that it regulates.

  • Drug Control Division: regulates distribution of all legal drugs, medical devices and cosmetics; licenses pharmacies, pharmacists, controlled substance providers and laboratories; administers Medical Marijuana Program and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).
  • Food and Standards Division: regulates manufacturers and sellers of food products; ensures weighing and measuring devices are accurate; inspects restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores.
  • Investigations Division: protects the public from unfair or deceptive practices; enforces CUTPA; handles legal actions for the agency.
  • Gaming Division: ensures integrity in legalized gaming; licenses or permits participants; monitors compliance and tribal-state agreements.
  • License Services Division: processes licenses; assists with renewals, payments, and processing issues.
  • Liquor Control Division: regulates distribution, selling, and dispensing of alcoholic liquor; prevents sales to minors and intoxicated persons.
  • Occupational & Professional Licensing Division: ensures qualified licensing in trades and professional boards; administers educational and examination standards.

  • Acts as hearing officer or represents agency in formal administrative and public proceedings on a full range of cases involving complex legal and technical issues.
  • Negotiates and drafts settlement agreements.
  • Drafts advisory opinions, rulings, decisions, recommendations, findings, legislation, statutes, regulations, publications and other related legal documents.
  • Assists in the preparation and presentation of trials and appeals.
  • Consults with the Office of the Attorney General on legal issues.
