Staff Attorney

Introduction

State of Connecticut, Department of Housing (DOH), is accepting applications for the Staff Attorney 2 position in the Legal Division, Hartford, CT.

• Full time, 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday
• First shift, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
• Hybrid: eligible for telework per Telework Policy

Under the supervision of the Legal Program Director, the Staff Attorney 2 will:

• Provide legal advice and counsel on state statutes, federal regulations, and agency policies
• Draft and review contract documents and closing financial assistance transactions
• Act as a hearing officer, including preparing draft hearing decisions
• Support administrative proceedings and represent the agency in formal administrative and public proceedings
• Assist in the preparation and presentation of trials and appeals

Minimum General

Experience:

• Two (2) years of experience in the practice of law

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience drafting and preparing closing documents for financial assistance, including loans and grants
• Experience with the administrative hearing process and preparing written decisions
• Familiarity with Connecticut statutes, regulations, and procedures, including the Uniform Administrative Procedures Act and CT’s Freedom of Information Act

Special Requirements:

• Admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut
• May be required to travel
