Sr. DevOps Engineer; Hybrid

Overview

Selective Insurance is seeking a distinguished Senior Dev Ops Engineer with Cloud technologies experience to innovate and improve our ability to accelerate value delivery to our customers. The candidate will be instrumental in defining and implementing best practices and patterns, identifying opportunities to design, implement, improve, and sustain continuous integration and delivery patterns. As a hands-on senior engineer, they will provide technical oversight to ensure that software projects adhere to the organization s strategy, architecture, and methodologies, applying thought leadership in modernization, technology advancement, and application lifecycle management.

They will provide highly technical consulting and leadership for design, best practices, and development technologies and advise organizational leaders on technical solutions and the technical talent of development teams.

• Design and oversee the implementation of cloud-based architecture, networking, and containerization, utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code for automation and patterns.
• Lead the creation and deployment of CI/CD and other automation solutions, focusing on design patterns that emphasize reuse, scalability, performance, availability, and security.
• Develop and enhance process flows, release pipeline documentation, mockups, and other materials to convey technical details and their alignment with desired outcomes.
• Conduct technical evaluations of Dev Ops solutions, understand existing industry options, and design necessary custom system integrations.
• Serve as a strategic thinker, thought leader, internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent for Dev Ops architecture within development teams.
• Measure and demonstrate the benefits and business value of Dev Ops improvements.
• Present innovative and complex solutions/ideas to participants at all levels, working both as a leader and an individual contributor.
• Identify customer, business, and technology needs through relationship building and communication with key stakeholders.
• Identify gaps and propose modernization opportunities that involve both process and technical/automation aspects of the SDLC.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues with new and existing CI/CD pipelines.

• Over 5 years of experience in applications development.
• More than 5 years of experience designing Dev Ops pipelines using tools and technologies including Azure Dev Ops, Sonar Qube, and YAML.
• In-depth knowledge of Azure services including but not limited to Azure Compute, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, Azure App Service, Logic Apps, VMSS and Azure Security.
• Proficiency in Azure Dev Ops and building CI/CD pipelines, including Azure environment provisioning tasks.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Terraform, Puppet or Ansible.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bicep, Power Shell, Bash, or Python.
• Demonstrated experience in cloud cost optimization, governance, and implementing Fin Ops practices.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to drive change and foster a Dev Ops culture across teams.
• Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery strategies and high-availability architectures in cloud environments.
• Self-starter who is capable of working independently and making decisions when necessary/as applicable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and have the ability to mentor others.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and the ability to communicate with audiences at varying technical levels.

• Experience working in an Agile environment, preferably SAFe.
• Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Dev Ops Engineer Expert.
• Experience in Application Security / Dev Sec Ops  roles.
