Companion - Patient Safety Attendant- Per Diem, Emergency Department

Position Purpose

At Saint Francis Hospital the Companion -
Patient Safety Attendant will support a safe environment for patients by providing continuous observation and/or surveillance of assigned patients.

What you will do

• Responsible for verbal redirection of the patient(s) from engaging in potential at risk behaviors.

• Notify appropriate professional staff of patient’s needs including unsafe behaviors and appropriate documentation on patients’ medical records along with other documents, such as handoff report.

• Assist patient(s) with activities of daily living and may include other duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  H igh school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a hospital setting helpful.

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (Red Cross of AHA)

• Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, staff and others. Able to maintain professionalism during stressful and difficult situations.

• Ability to pass drug screening and background check.

• Per Diem with rotation
