Job Description

Athletic Trainer in Physician Practice to increase the efficiency of clinics by obtaining history and injury related information to relay to provider. Assist with all aspects of patient visit and documentation to promote efficient flow of schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for following patient care from check in to check out.
  • Liaison between patient, physician or physician office staff.
  • Responsible for taking patient history, initial evaluation and documentation.
  • Design and educate patients on home exercise protocols per physician’s request.
  • Responsible for patient setup and education of in office procedures.
  • Prepares for and assists physician with in-office procedures.
  • Responsible for brace and crutch fitting and product education for safe crutch use.
  • Train to cast and remove casts safely as needed.
  • Triage patient messages, phone calls and questions appropriately, whether it is resolving issue within the scope of practice or utilizing physician, and other ancillary staff as needed.
  • Be capable of preparing charts ahead of time for clinic: review previous notes to add relevant information and add imaging results etc.

    Ensure that images are pushed into the chart when possible.
  • Responsible for maintaining clinic flow between all areas of the clinic.
  • Completes special projects and research as assigned.
  • Education and outreach to athletic groups as needed.
Qualifications



Education and/or Experience

Required:

  • Education Required:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training required.

Education and/or Experience Preferred:

  • Education Preferred:
    Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience Preferred: 2-3 years clinical experience preferred.

License and/or Certification

Required:

  • Must be BOC certified and possess state athletic training licensure, certification or registration.
  • NPI Number Required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Athletic trainers must have clinical knowledge of a large range of medical problems. Assessments and evaluation skills and working with other healthcare professionals will be needed.

Skills:

  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Athletic trainers work with people in stressful situations. Keeping a clear head and a calm demeanor when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families will be an asset.
  • Must have strong oral communication skills (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension).

Ability to:

  • Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
