The Base Leader will act as a resource to the LIFE STAR crew members through coaching and mentoring of Flight Nurses, Flight Respiratory Therapists, and Flight Paramedics.
The Base Leader is an active member of the medical flight crew and will work 3 clinical flight shifts per week (total of 36 hours), including rotation to weekends, nights, and holidays and will have an additional 4 hours per week scheduled administrative time and may fill overtime shifts to support the needs of the department.
The Base Leader will be responsible for leading the daily base operations on a rotational basis in Meriden, Norwich, and Westfield, including but not limited to managing inventory of supplies and auditing daily check lists by medical crew members.
Qualifications- Five (5) years clinical critical care experience.
- One (1) year critical care experience working in The LIFE STAR Program.
- Valid CT, and MA Registered Nurse licenses and valid CT, MA and RI Paramedic licenses.
- Or, valid CT Respiratory Care Practitioner license and valid Paramedic licenses for CT, MA and RI.
- Or, valid Paramedic license for CT, MA and RI.
- Specialty Flight Certification [FP-C-CFRN], if not certified, required to achieve certification within one (1) year of hire.
- Certified BLS, NRP, ACLS and PALS.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree
