Position: Health Program Supervisor (40 Hour)

Overview

The State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is accepting applications for a Health Program Supervisor in Hartford. This is a permanent, full-time position with a first shift schedule and a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities
  • Direct staff and operations of the division under the direction of the State Program Manager - Health Information & Outreach.
  • Coordinate, plan and manage division activities; schedule, assign, oversee and review work of staff.
  • Research and respond to complex inquiries from consumers, staff, and various stakeholders; provide staff training and assistance.
  • Contribute input in the development of related policy; assist in formulating program goals and track progress.
  • Pursue continuity of funding and manage data sharing with internal staff and other agencies.
  • Develop and evaluate statistical and technical reports on drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, medical marijuana, and adult-use cannabis.
  • Attend meetings and conferences with or in place of the Director or State Program Manager; perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of public health program purposes, plans, objectives and programs; understanding relationships between risk factors and health problems.
  • Knowledge of research methods, data analysis, and report preparation; strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret data; supervisory capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

General Experience
Eight (8) years of professional experience in a health organization.

Special Experience
One (1) year of the General Experience must be at the advanced working level in health care program administration in at least one of: grant writing or monitoring; formal program planning, development, management or evaluation; program consultation.

Substitutions
College coursework: 15 semester hours equals 1/2 year of experience, up to 4 years for a Bachelor's degree. A Master’s degree may substitute for one additional year of General Experience. One (1) year as a Health Program Associate may substitute for General and Special Experience for state employees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting statutes/regulations related to prescribing, dispensing and monitoring of prescription medications.
  • Experience developing education and training materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience writing grant applications, monitoring contract compliance, and preparing program reports.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring professional staff; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe products and prescription monitoring software.
Special Requirements

Travel may be required.
