Job Summary

The Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident is a full‑time clinical staff person. It is a one‑year (12 months) clinical position. The candidate provides direct clinical services including but not limited to individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, consultation, and assessment to clients. The candidate is a member of a clinical team that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, social workers, nurses, case managers, care coordinators, and recovery support specialists.

Ongoing employment beyond the initial 1‑year position may be considered, pending open positions within the agency. When eligible, all unlicensed clinical staff are expected to obtain licensure to be considered for ongoing employment at The Village.

Key Responsibilities
  • Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident is hired for a one‑year (12 months), full‑time position in fulfillment of the experience requirement for licensure as a psychologist in CT. Over the course of the year, the clinician will obtain experience providing clinical psychological services and receive supervision from licensed psychologists.
  • Responsibilities may vary based on specific placement within the agency. Responsibilities, which are provided under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, may include, but are not limited to:
    • Provides psychological and diagnostic assessment services and makes recommendations regarding diagnosis, treatment planning, and implementation.
    • Provides direct clinical services including individual, family, and group therapy to adults.
    • Completes psychosocial, mental health, and/or developmental assessments for adults.
    • Completes clinical documentation and reports, and any other documentation and reports required by agency and program policies and funding sources accurately and on time.
    • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other community agencies and organizations in consultation with supervisor, in order to provide comprehensive and effective services for clients (i.e. schools, courts, hospitals, etc.).
    • Provides intra‑agency psychological consultation services to staff, administrators, and/or programs.
    • Teams with other program and agency staff to ensure integration of services and development of internal system of care.
    • Applies program and agency policies and procedures.
    • Contributes to program functioning by assuming responsibility for special tasks or leadership in special projects as appropriate.
    • Participates in agency‑wide task forces, committees or problem‑solving teams as appropriate.
    • Represents the Village in community groups or committees, as assigned.
    • Participates in psychology department meetings and activities, including developing and providing trainings within the agency and/or community, as requested, and providing supervised supervision for pre‑doctoral interns, as assigned.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Education
  • Ph.D. or Psy.

    D. from a clinical psychology APA‑approved program. Must have completed an APPIC or APA accredited doctoral internship.
  • Significant clinical experience with populations served by the Village; specialization desirable.
