Position
Description:
NAFI Connecticut is exploring candidates for a detail‑oriented Accounting & Reporting Manager (Hybrid) to join our finance leadership team. This hands‑on financial role works closely with program leadership, senior finance staff, and Connecticut state agencies to ensure financial accountability and accurate reporting.
This role is ideal for an Accounting Professional who:
• Seeks to transition from Accounting into Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).
• Motivated by work that supports meaningful contributions to the community.
• Values collaboration, clear communication, and accountability in a team environment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as the primary finance liaison with Connecticut State agencies, including DCF and DDS, for financial reporting and ongoing communication.
- Prepare and deliver accurate, complete, and timely financial reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure proper tracking, monitoring, and reporting of government and grant funds.
- Translate contract terms into effective budgeting, reporting, and settlement processes.
- Collaborate with program leaders to analyze financial variances, trends, and potential risks.
- Lead and support initiatives to improve internal business processes and financial systems.
- Prepare, process, and approve journal entries.
- Assist with internal audits and prepare audit work papers.
- Process Representative Payee invoicing.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations.

Desired
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant role.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Salary: $95,000.00 per year
