There’s no average day for a Sales and Use Tax Senior. You’ll spend your time on diverse projects, responsibilities and tasks, providing up‑to‑minute tax advice to clients. You’ll work in a highly collaborative culture, listening to and sharing information with colleagues.
Skills and Attributes for Success- Analyzing a portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights.
- Identifying potential opportunities and risks and communicating these to clients.
- Researching current market trends to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
- Developing clear, intelligent plans to improve clients’ tax activities.
- Researching clients’ business operations and building long‑lasting relationships to tailor advice.
- Supervising a motivated team of professionals, ensuring they grow to their full potential.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline.
- Professional knowledge in sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools.
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- The ability to prioritize across multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes.
- Willingness to travel as needed and ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- A completed or partially completed CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or the ability to sit for a state bar.
