DescriptionTerraphase Engineering is seeking a Mid-Level Geologist, Environmental Scientist, or Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our Connecticut office. This role supports site assessment, investigation, remediation, hazardous building materials surveys, and environmental regulatory compliance projects.
The RolePerform environmental field sampling of soil, unconsolidated deposits, bedrock, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and waste
Document field activities and observations accurately and concisely
Oversee soil borings and groundwater monitoring well installations conducted by subcontracted drillers
Serve as field task lead for investigation and remediation work plans
Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
Perform asbestos and lead-based paint surveys
Support environmental permitting and Connecticut Transfer Act projects
Prepare project plans, permit applications, subcontractor agreements, and site specific Health and Safety Plans
Coordinate and oversee subcontractors including drillers, laboratories, and construction personnel
Analyze and interpret hydrogeologic and chemical data
Prepare draft technical reports for review by project managers and principals
Mentor junior staff on field procedures and standard operating practices
Maintain compliance with HASPs and applicable federal and state environmental regulations
Who You AreBachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
3 to 5 plus years of environmental consulting experience
Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills
Organized, analytical, and solutions oriented
Able to work independently and collaboratively within a project team
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe
Experience with GIS or drafting software preferred
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Able to work outdoors for extended periods and travel as needed
Committed to safe work practices in environmentally impacted settings
Preferred Training and CertificationsOSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER
CPR and First Aid
Connecticut Asbestos and Lead Inspector licenses
Interest in progression toward Project Manager responsibilities and PEP or LEP track
