SUMMARYRSC is an established smaller company in growth mode with 3 facilities in CT and NM. We’ve more than doubled in size in the last 18 months. We are expanding into new markets and applications. RSC competes in a specialty, engineered metals arena dominated by larger, global competitors. This circumstance mandates a broad, flexible work scope and self‑starting, tenacious individuals who are relentless and hard‑working.
The Process Engineer will have broad technical responsibilities from process to product. The successful individual will enjoy working hands‑on finding solutions, optimizing and controlling processes, and training others to assume responsibilities. The individual will work with operations and the commercial team to develop and control processes and ensure the quality of products produced. As part of a small, entrepreneurial company, this person will be engaged in hands‑on production and foundry work.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for directly engaging with process and product in a manufacturing environment. Future leadership advancement opportunities exist for an experienced candidate who is able to demonstrate strong success in this role.
- To be successful, the individual should have production experience and be accustomed to taking ownership of tasks and seeing them to an efficient conclusion.
- Develop, optimize, and implement process controls for casting, rolling, wire drawing, and annealing processes. Expertise in metallurgical processes is required.
- Develop, create, and maintain process documents such as process routers. Train operators to adhere to documented processes.
- Help manage quality issues and requirements from customers, which may involve direct interface with customers.
- Assist QA Engineers in driving quality within the company and support their efforts to attain ISO compliance.
- Manage projects required to implement new processes, including specification, sourcing, commissioning of equipment, and vendor management.
- Initiate and lead cost reduction and quality improvement projects.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and material to assist in costing products.
- Develop, scale‑up, and manufacture new alloys or products as required.
- Create part numbers, evaluate customer drawings, and modify BOMs.
- Become familiar with all of RSC’s in‑house manufacturing processes to troubleshoot processes and equipment as needed.
- Learn and understand analytical techniques for determining composition and purity of materials.
- Use statistical methods to measure and track product and processes.
- Knowledge of and experience with ERP systems and BOMs is highly beneficial.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. An accountable owner and entrepreneurial spirit are required for this position. A hands‑on mindset with a “can‑do” attitude is a must.
Education and/or ExperienceB.S. in metallurgy, materials science, mechanical, or chemical engineering is required. Five or more years of engineering experience in metallurgical or materials‑related fields is required. A combination of experience in multiple relevant industries is ideal. Relevant areas of experience include metal foundry operations, thermal spraying, sputter target manufacturing processes, and physical vapor deposition in semiconductors or architectural glass. Prior production experience is important for this role.
Familiarity or experience in CNC machining, equipment, and machine shop operations is also desirable.

- Commensurate with a technical B.S. degree.
- Assist in costing of processes.
- Analyze, optimize, and track metal inventory and implement inventory controls.
- Proficiency in metric system units and conversions.
