Early Learning Center Teacher Assistant Infant/Toddler part-time 1:30-5:30

Year‑round part‑time position. Monday–Friday 1:30–5:30 pm.

Summary

Assist the Head Teacher in providing a supportive, respectful, safe, and healthy environment for children enrolled in YWCA Hartford Region Early Learning Centers. Facilitate activities that meet the developmental needs of a large group of early‑childhood learners.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and deliver classroom and outdoor curriculum to support each child’s physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.
  • Implement individual support plans and short–term and long–term goals for program improvement.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe, healthy, and inviting environment; provide positive guidance and redirection.
  • Assist with snack preparation, delivery, cleanup, and bathroom supervision.
  • Communicate calmly and responsively with parents and support staff, and assume daily classroom responsibilities when the Head Teacher is absent.
  • Follow OEC and YWCA protocols for child‑abuse reporting; complete developmental observations, incident reports, and necessary documentation within 24 hours.
  • Adhere to CACFP procedures, maintain confidentiality, and report injuries to site manager.
  • Participate in sanctuary training, other job‑related trainings, and stay current with best practices.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop age‑appropriate exhibits and activities; basic knowledge of child‑development principles.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • CPR/First Aid certification, or obtain within 2 months of employment.
Schedule

Part‑time;
Monday–Friday 1:30–5:30 pm.
