Position Overview The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all activities related to the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials required for company operations. This role ensures material availability, accuracy of inventory levels, cost-effective purchasing, and efficient flow of goods from suppliers to production.
Key Responsibilities
** Material Planning & Inventory Management
*** Develop and implement material planning strategies to meet production schedules and customer demand.
* Maintain accurate inventory levels through cycle counts, audits, and continuous improvement of inventory control processes.
* Analyze usage trends, lead times, and forecasts to reduce stockouts and minimize excess inventory.
* Oversee the maintenance of ERP/MRP systems to ensure accurate and timely data.
** Procurement & Supplier Management
*** Source and evaluate suppliers to ensure cost-effective, high‐quality materials.
* Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to optimize spend.
* Monitor supplier performance (quality, on‐time delivery, responsiveness) and resolve issues as they arise.
* Build strong relationships with key vendors to support long-term business goals.
** Cross Functional Collaboration
*** Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to ensure consistent material availability and accurate cost tracking.
* Participate in new product introduction processes to establish material requirements and sourcing strategies.
* Communicate proactively with internal teams on material shortages, delays, and corrective actions.
* Successfully partner with Corporate teams on projects.
** Leadership & Team Development
*** Supervise and develop inventory and purchasing staff.
* Create and maintain a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
* Provide training and performance feedback to ensure team success.

* 5+ years of experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain operations.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, distribution experience also considered.
* Prior leadership/supervisory experience required.
* Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and inventory management best practices with specific experience in SAP.
* Excellent analytical, problem‐solving, and organizational skills.
* Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers.
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

* Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, business, or related field.
* Expected Base Salary Range: $115,000 - $145,000
The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for this position. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, the geographic market of that location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education and internal peer compensation comparisons among other potential factors.
