Motorists traveling between parts of southern Glastonbury and Rocky Hill can cut nearly 8 miles (one-way) off their trip if they use the ferry.
The Chester Ferry is a distance saver as well, driving from Chester to Lyme is 20.3 miles overland via the East Haddam bridge, but only 8.3 miles via the ferry. The ferry is also convenient for business and pleasure with tourists’ attractions including Gillette’s Castle and the Essex Steam Train.
