Gujarati-speaking Befriender Volunteer

Preferred hours per week/time commitment Flexible days and times About the service Extra Care Service with self-contained flats for older people with a variety of needs Purpose of the role We are currently looking for a Gujarati speaking volunteer befriender to meet up regularly with one of our residents at our service in Harrow, if you have a couple of hours to spare and can commit to volunteering on a regular basis, wed love to hear from you.

Are you a warm and chatty person, whos also a good listener? As a befriender, you will provide companionship to our resident by meeting together regularly for a cup of tea and chat. We ask that you are able to communicate confidently in Gujarati in order to engage in conversations together. Our resident also enjoys cooking, and playing board games and card games, and has asked that their befriender volunteer enjoys the same activities and can take part in these activities together during their volunteering sessions.

As a volunteer with Creative Support we offer training for your role, access to a volunteer supervisor, an induction, a monthly volunteer newsletter, and an online volunteer support network group on Zoom. Volunteer duties:
Meet on a regular basis Follow safeguarding procedures, and report any concerns Develop a friendship and enjoy conversations together whilst respecting boundaries. Complete any training provided Attend regular volunteer supervisions with your volunteer supervisor.
