Lead BI Analyst

A major UK retail brand is undergoing a large-scale data transformation, using analytics to power smarter decisions and better customer experiences. They’re now looking for a Lead BI Business Analyst to help shape how data is used across the business and guide the next phase of their BI capability.

Location:

UK (Hybrid)

• Leading and mentoring a team of BI-focused Business Analysts, setting standards for reporting, documentation and best practice.
• Owning and shaping the BI roadmap, balancing short-term reporting needs with longer-term data platform improvements.
• Acting as the subject matter expert for Power BI, including data modelling, DAX development and dashboard performance optimisation.
• Working closely with data engineers to ensure reporting pipelines and datasets are built for scalable, high-quality analytics.
• Partnering with stakeholders across marketing, finance and operations to translate business needs into effective reporting solutions.
• Delivering analytics initiatives end-to-end — from requirements gathering and backlog management through to UAT and rollout.
• Driving improvements in data quality, governance and access control across reporting environments.
• Supporting the rollout of self-service BI by designing intuitive dashboards and enabling business users to work confidently with data.
• Running training sessions, demos and knowledge sharing to improve data literacy across the organisation.
• Ensuring reporting solutions meet regulatory and compliance standards while still enabling agile analysis.

• Strong background in BI and analytics with extensive experience delivering reporting and data insight solutions.
• Advanced Power BI expertise including data modelling, DAX and dashboard optimisation.
• Experience leading BI or reporting-focused Business Analysts and establishing consistent ways of working.
• Proven ability to deliver BI projects end-to-end within agile or hybrid delivery environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business insight.
• Understanding of data governance, security and regulatory considerations within data environments.
• Experience working with enterprise-scale data platforms and modern analytics tooling.
• Familiarity with additional BI tools such as Tableau or Qlik is beneficial.
