Job Overview

You will be responsible for providing excellent, high-quality service to children in Harrow who have additional and special educational needs. Your role will involve working closely with children, their parents or caregivers, and other key partners to improve health outcomes and help children with special needs reach their full potential in all environments: at home, in the community, and d communication and positive working relationships with school staff and the leadership team are essential parts of this role.

Special School Nurses work closely with the people who use our services and their families. Families, friends and carers play an important contribution in how people experience our services. Special School Nurses are expected to be kind and responsive, but professional and informative and contribute to the quality of the services we provide by:

• Keeping the people who use our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments.
• Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence-based policies and procedures.
• Ensuring the people who use our services have a good experience by respecting, empowering and working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process.

We believe that the best health care is delivered by multi-disciplinary teams working well together and in partnership with other teams and services to provide seamless care. Special School nurses work as part of a team and you will contribute to the success of the team by being an effective role model to healthcare assistants/supplementary workers/school staff and students to ensure they are working to the standards which the people who use our services deserve.

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who can work autonomously as well as collaboratively as part of the Harrow Community Children's Nursing Team. The Special School Nursing Team operates in the schools from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This position comes with a Term Time Contract.
