The Role
As a Trainee Supervisor, you will support the delivery of highway improvement and maintenance schemes while developing your supervisory and technical knowledge. Working under the guidance of a an apprentice supervisor, you will assist in coordinating site activities to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
This is a development role designed to provide practical experience in highways operations, traffic management, contractor coordination, and site documentation, with a clear progression pathway into a Supervisory position.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in coordinating day-to-day site activities across highway schemes.
- Support the implementation of work programmes and report progress to senior supervisors.
- Maintain accurate daily site records, including photographs, labour, plant, and materials.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and health & safety requirements.
- Support the resolution of site issues, escalating concerns appropriately.
- Assist with inspections of Traffic Management layouts and report any defects or non-compliance.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and promoting good site practices.

Essential Requirements- You MUST have a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Interest in highways engineering, construction, or infrastructure.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear and confident communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with contractors and stakeholders.
