Term Time Deputy Manager
This Nursery is one of the leading nurseries in London, where the children go ahead and attend some of the best ranked private schools around the UK once completed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Staffing
Lead by Example:
Show staff how to work professionally by doing it yourself.
Team Support:
Help the Manager with rotas, training staff, and keeping morale high.
Accountability:
Ensure everyone follows nursery policies and Ofsted requirements.
Communication:
Act as a bridge between the staff, the Manager, and the Owner.
Safeguarding & Safety
Safety First:
Be the lead on safeguarding, fire drills, and "lockdown" procedures.
Risk Management:
Carry out regular risk assessments for the building and the garden.
Health & Hygiene:
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and manage accident reporting.
Data Security:
Ensure phones, cameras, and personal data are used legally and safely.
Teaching & Curriculum
Classroom Lead:
Help deliver the EYFS and Montessori curriculum, specifically leading arts, crafts, and sensory play.
Key Person:
Look after your own group of children, tracking their progress and writing reports.
Inclusion:
Work with the SENCO to support children with additional needs.
Hands-on Help:
Be ready to help with snacks, cleaning, and changing nappies when needed.
Operations & Environment
The "Pack-Away" Rule:
You must be physically able to move furniture and equipment daily.
Organization:
Keep the nursery tidy, label everything, and manage displays/signage.
Resources:
Order toys and supplies while staying within the budget.
Planning:
Help create the yearly calendar of events and weekly lesson plans.
Parent Relationships
Partnership:
Treat parents as partners in their child's education.
Sensitivity:
Understand family backgrounds, religions, and home life to better support the child.
Events:
Host parents' evenings and welcome new families.
Admin & Compliance
Paperwork:
Keep records (like accident books and learning journeys) neat, accurate, and up to date for Ofsted inspections.
Professionalism:
Attend external meetings and stay updated on new childcare laws
Qualifications:
Level 5 Qualification in childcare
Minimum of 2 Years working in a senior childcare position
Understanding of the Maria Montessori Learning Theory
