Overview
The Anatomy Assistant works closely with faculty, staff and students of the OPCVM. This position is responsible for meeting the day-to-day requirements of all facilities and functions that fall within the OPCVM Anatomy Department in addition to ordering supplies and maintaining inventory for the lab.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year experience in an anatomy or lab setting
- Knowledge of university program goals and objectives
- Familiarity with veterinary medical field
- Experience with animal cadaver and osteology work

Job Duties- Assist the anatomy veterinarians in preparation of specimens as needed
- Assist the designated faculty to provide anatomy experiences for students in an efficient, professional, safe, authoritative manner
- Assist in the education of students as they acquire the entry-level skills, knowledge, and understanding of veterinary medical anatomy required of veterinarians under the direction of designated faculty
- Comply with all personal protective equipment requirements
- Maintain the overall professional appearance and organization of all facilities and locations associated with the Anatomy Department
- Routinely lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Handle fresh and/or fixed cadaver tissue.
- Manage the cadaver receiving and disposal activities
- Maintain proper security for all University files and information and follow privacy procedures at all times.
- Maintain records and procedures for duties and responsibilities of position
- Complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites
- Engage in community outreach and education programs related to veterinary medicine and animal health
- Collaborate and foster working relationships with peers, other colleges on campus, and external partners and stakeholders to attain the college s and university s goals and objectives.
