Lead Skills Teacher - Electrical Installation Salary: Commencing at £39,424 with progression to £43,067 per annumClosing Date: About the Role
Harrogate College are seeking a Lead Skills Teacher with specialist expertise to join our Electrical team.
In this role, you will teach full‑time learners within our fully equipped Electrical department and will provide an excellent learning experience to ensure individual learners gain the appropriate skills in readiness for further study, employment, or apprenticeship.
As an experienced Electrician, you will be required to teach learners across all modes of attendance and across all the levels of Electrical Installation. You will be required to teach the following types of programmes:
- 16-18-year-old Study Programmes
- 19 plus learners who are on Study programmes

What You Will DoThe successful candidate must have a passion for electrical and the ability to enthuse and motivate technicians of the future. Previous experience of working with young people would be advantageous. You must have the drive, determination and desire to make a difference to young people's lives through education.
- You will provide current, specialist subject expertise in a skills shortage area for teaching delivery.
- Maintain links with the sector and help ensure the curriculum content reflects the latest industrial or professional practice.
- Ensure the curriculum delivery team are aware of the latest developments within the sector and have recent CPD and industrial updating.
- Prepare and teach on a range of topics, using your industry knowledge to upskill our future workforce.
- Contribute to aspirational teaching, learning and assessment.
- Keep accurate records for learners’ progress in College.
- Hold or be willing to work towards a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
- Hold a relevant vocational/technical qualification or degree in teaching subject.
- Relevant recent experience in the subject sector area and clear expertise.
- Relevant up to date subject knowledge.
- Have an understanding of the Further Education or school sector.
