Are you an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Gastroenterologist looking to make a real impact? Join us at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust during a transformative and exciting period of growth. With a brand new third endoscopy suite now open and a new hospital on the horizon, this is a unique opportunity to influence how modern gastroenterology services are delivered for years to come.

We are seeking dynamic clinicians with strong subspecialty skills to complement our expanding team. You’ll work across outpatients, endoscopy and our dedicated gastroenterology ward, playing a key role in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care. As part of our ten‑year strategy programme you’ll help shape service development and contribute to innovative models of care for our local population.

Main duties of the job

You’ll bring JAG‑accredited competence in upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, including therapeutic skills, and confidence in managing a wide range of gastroenterology conditions. Your weekly timetable will include participation in a 1:7 GI bleed rota (moving to 24/7), ward cover and flexible clinical sessions across multiple sites. With significant investment in new equipment, additional staffing including a Nurse Endoscopist and future expansion into the Community Diagnostic Centre, you’ll be joining a service that’s truly on the rise.

As part of a supportive, inclusive, and forward‑looking Trust you’ll work within multidisciplinary teams, contribute to teaching and supervision, engage in audit and research, and uphold the highest standards of clinical governance. We’re proud to be part of the Neighbourhood Wave programme, working closely with partners to deliver more integrated, preventative, community‑focused care.

The department has recently developed a ten‑year strategy programme which the post holder will help develop and deliver. It is essential that the successful candidate is competent in the effective management of a wide range of gastroenterology conditions within the outpatient setting in order to see, treat and discharge patients in a timely manner.
