We are looking for a part-time Legal Assistant to join our Private Client department and to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.
To be successful in this role, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as competency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel. Prior experience as a Legal Secretary is also helpful but not essential. Experience of working in an office environment.
Main Purpose of RoleTo be responsible for the day-to-day production and presentation of documents within the Practice between Fee Earners and clients regarding the areas identified below.
Reports ToFee Earners within the Department.
Department Heads.
- Dealing with initial general and specific telephone enquiries within agreed guidelines by allocated Fee Earner.
- The efficient presentation of documents and letters and other communications.
- Providing efficient and effective resource facilities for Fee Earners on a day-to-day basis.
- Being able to cover the responsibilities of other staff when absent.
- Assisting with the various activities of the Company to ensure its successful development.
- Audio and Copy Typing and Digital Dictation
- Liaising with clients and other third parties, when necessary, in the office and by telephone.
- Maintain diaries and make appointments when required.
- Filing and other clerical duties.
- Updating legal reference material, either hard copy or electronic.
- Sorting and preparing outgoing mail and DX.
- Photocopying as required.
- Drafting and preparation of bills.
- To provide support to other secretaries as and when required.
- Preparation of instructions for the cashier.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving office procedures.
- To undertake specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development.
- Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm.
