Position: Bookkeeper / Office Manager ,£30-£35,000

A well‑established small business based in central Harrogate is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Office Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day financial management and office administration of the practice.

This is a long‑standing role becoming available due to the relocation of the current postholder. A full handover will be provided to ensure a smooth transition. The position is finance‑led (80%+) with responsibility for supporting the efficient running of the office.

Key Responsibilities Finance & Bookkeeping
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and financial ledgers
  • Prepare budgets and monitor expenditure against forecasts
  • Raise invoices, process payments, manage client accounts and credit control
  • Prepare year‑end financial information for external accountants
  • Liaise with accountants and respond to financial queries
Office Administration & Management
  • Manage the day‑to‑day running of the office, including answering telephone enquiries
  • Maintain organised digital and paper filing systems
  • Manage diaries, appointments, and meeting arrangements
  • Act as first point of contact for clients and external parties
  • Deal with enquiries professionally by phone and email
  • Support and improve office procedures and systems
Property / Conveyancing Support
  • Assist with administrative aspects of conveyancing matters
  • Prepare and manage documentation related to property transactions
  • Liaise with solicitors, estate agents, lenders, and clients
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping and budgeting
  • Previous office management or senior administrative experience
  • Experience with in property, surveying, legal, or conveyancing environments preferred (but not essential)
  • Strong IT skills, including accounting software and Microsoft Office
Working Hours & Benefits
  • Full‑time, Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm
  • 4 or 4.5 days per week could be considered after probation/settling‑in period
  • Supportive handover and established systems in place
