Position: Part Time Legal Assistant / Conveyancing Paralegal – Residential Conveyancing Maternity Cover

We are looking for a Part time Legal Assistant, working 3 days per week to join our conveyancing department and to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.

The right candidate for this role will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail as well as competency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel. You will have great time management skills as well as a strong sense of personal organisation. You will also have excellent multitasking capabilities, being able to jump flexibly from task to task when prioritisation is required.

Prior experience as a Legal Assistant is also helpful as is experience of working in conveyancing.

Main Purpose of Role

To assist the Fee Earners in the department with the management and progress of files, to communicate effectively with clients, and to support the wider needs of the department with administrative tasks such as answering client phone calls, emails, and ensuring files are kept up to date.

  • Fee Earner within the Department

Responsible For
  • Attending the implementation of the Practice Client Care and compliance Policies.
  • Dealing with telephone and email enquiries.
  • The neat and efficient presentation of documents, letters and other communications.
  • Being able to cover the responsibilities of other staff when absent.
  • Preparing all completion documents for checking by Fee earner prior to passing to accounts.
Key Tasks
  • File opening and client onboarding, including following anti-money laundering legislation and policies
  • Liaising with clients and other third parties, when necessary, in the office and by telephone and email
  • Filing of correspondence and other documents.
  • Photocopying and scanning as required.
  • Drafting and preparation of bills and completion statements
  • Ordering searches
  • Processing Stamp Duty Land Tax returns
  • To provide support to other departmental staff and when required.
