Overview
We are currently offering a $2,500 sign-on bonus for Truck Driver new hires. $1,250 is payable after 90-days of employment, and the remaining $1,250 is payable after 180 days of employment.
Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Truck Driver in Harrisonburg, Virginia for 2nd shift. The Truck Driver is responsible for transporting and delivering products to Carter Machinery facilities and customer locations over established routes. We are seeking candidates with a minimum of four years experience driving a tractor trailer;
valid CDL A licensure required; HAZMAT preferred; high school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous warehouse experience preferred.
- Transport and deliver products to Carter Machinery facilities and customer locations over established routes.
- Operate a tractor-trailer with CDL A licensure; ensure safety and compliance with DOT standards.
- Load, unload, and secure cargo for transport.
- Meet delivery deadlines; work overtime as needed to meet customer demand.
- Operate a forklift as required.

- CDL A licensure with proven tractor/trailer driving experience
- Must have an excellent driving record
- Thorough knowledge of DOT and Company safety standards and regulations; ability to conduct pre/post/periodic trip inspections
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to load, unload, and secure cargo for transport
- Must be able to meet delivery deadlines
- Must be able to work overtime as needed to meet customer demand
- Must be able to operate a forklift
- Special duties to promote a positive customer experience
Physical requirements:
the ability to qualify for a Department of Transportation medical card. Able to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds, including bulky objects. Frequent reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and the ability to sit for extended periods. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This job description is not all-inclusive;
