Grocery Clerk

Overview

• Assist customers by helping them discover products and answering questions about items.
• Inform customers about specials and make recommendations to help them find products they want and need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery items as ordered.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and log temperatures.
• Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with product suggestions.
• Create an inviting environment for customers by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of items needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict calmly and professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance as needed.
• Provide support and assistance to customers with diverse needs, including minors and individuals with special needs and older adults.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
