Pay Range: $15.75 – $20.46 / hour

Sentara Health is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Home Health Aide. The role requires providing comprehensive care for patients with specialized needs, including oxygen, IV, tubes, drains, wounds, and dressings. Key responsibilities include monitoring and recording elimination patterns, preventing pressure ulcers, and completing all departmental documentation. The aide will support psychosocial functioning, provide emotional support, and assist patients with feeding, ADLs, transfers, and mobility.

Infection control, proper body mechanics, nutritional support, safe environment maintenance, and linen management are also part of the job.

• Utilize safety precautions when caring for patients with specialized needs.
• Monitor and record elimination patterns; report concerns to clinicians.
• Implement pressure ulcer prevention strategies.
• Provide emotional support, active listening, and encouragement.
• Assist patients with feeding, ADLs, transfers, and mobility.
• Maintain infection control precautions and proper body mechanics.
• Provide nutritional support and adapt to special diets or allergies.
• Collect and launder linens, maintain a tidy work area, and dispose of waste appropriately.

No specific education requirements.

• CNA – Required
• First Aid Basics – Required
• BLS – Required within 90 days

• Basic and routine patient care.
• Personal hygiene, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, and feeding.
• Intake/output monitoring.

• Assisting patients with transfers from/to bed, toilet, and other areas of the home.
