Assistant Professor of Finance
The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Finance position to begin Fall 2026.
About the DepartmentThe Finance and Business Law Department is staffed by 17 full‑time faculty with 14 in finance and 3 in Business Law. The department serves both Finance and Quantitative Finance majors and college business law courses. Interdisciplinary and applied research is encouraged.
About the CollegeThe College of Business includes nationally ranked undergraduate and graduate programs and is dual‑accredited in both Business and Accounting by the AACSB. The faculty are teacher‑scholars who are collaborative and supportive colleagues.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeaching needs include Financial Analytics and Data Science, Investments, or Corporate Finance. The successful candidate will be expected to engage regularly in service to the Department, the College, the University, and the profession.
QualificationsApplicants should have a Ph.D. in Finance (or ABD in a Ph.D. program in Finance with a successful dissertation defense completed by December 2026), from an AACSB‑accredited institution. CFA or FRM designation is a plus. Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to scholarly research are required.
