General InformationThe Community Engagement and Volunteer Center (CEVC) provides students with leadership opportunities and facilitates community‑based partnerships. The Program & Education Coordinator will collaborate with one of four CEVC teams—Operations, Marketing & Events, Program & Education, or Campus & Community Partnership—to support student leadership, program development, and community outreach.
Duties and Responsibilities- Support Alternative Breaks through training, mentoring, and logistics.
- Facilitate leadership retreats during Fall Break and the Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend.
- Participate in CEVC trainings, reflection sessions, and meetings to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Co‑lead Dukes Making a Difference (DMAD) and Dukes Volunteer opportunities each semester.
- Assist with program support, planning, and execution.
- Support classroom and community preparation and reflection sessions.
- Recruit students for all CEVC events and programs (e.g., tabling events, class visits).
- Serve as a liaison between CEVC and colleges, departments, and student organizations.
- Support student involvement initiatives via Be Involved, Volunteer Now, and other platforms.
- DMAD Spring Training:
Friday, April 17, 2:00‑3:30 pm. - Start Date:
August 12, 2026. - 40‑Hour Fall Training:
August 12‑18, 2026. - DMAD:
August 19‑21, 2026. - Work a maximum of 10 hours per week.
- Some required events may take place in the evenings or on weekends.
- Current JMU student, enrolled in at least 6 credits.
- Available to start on August 12 and attend the 40‑hour Fall Training.
- Interest in community priorities such as ending hunger, homelessness, health, youth and education, immigration and refugee support, and environmental protection.
- Effective time‑management, task organization, and prioritization skills.
- Flexibility, critical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
Students must be degree‑seeking and enrolled on a half‑time or greater basis (6 credits for undergraduates, 5 credits for graduate students).
Additional Posting InformationStudents must be degree‑seeking, enrolled on at least a half‑time basis. After accepting employment, new hires complete an I‑9 form and, if applicable, participate in the E‑Verify system.
