Description
Our Client is seeking to fill the role of Fire Protection Design Engineer located in Harrison, Ohio
. This is a full-time, onsite position supporting the design of specialized life safety systems within a mechanical/industrial engineering environment.
We are open to considering both junior and senior-level professionals based on experience. This role focuses on the design of special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems (sprinkler-only design experience will not meet requirements). The Fire Protection Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the implementation of life safety and asset protection systems while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Compensation range: $61,000 – $100,000 annually DOE
Key Responsibilities:- Design special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems using AutoCAD 2D/3D and proprietary software
- Ensure compliance with local, national, manufacturer, and NFPA standards
- Conduct job site surveys to support accurate system design and installation
- Review and interpret customer project specifications
- Direct contractors on proper system installation and operational requirements
- Create project-specific operation and maintenance manuals
- Update and revise existing engineering drawings
- Assist with engineering process improvements and internal technical support
- Support system inspections, startups, and commissioning activities as needed
- Participate in manufacturer and continuing education training programs
Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in the Fire Protection industry
- Direct experience designing special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems (sprinkler-only design experience is not sufficient)
- Demonstrated experience reviewing specifications and overseeing installation processes
Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D drafting
- Working knowledge of 3D design software
- Strong understanding of fire protection codes and NFPA standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered
- NICET Certification preferred
- Willingness to study for and obtain NICET certification required
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Must be able to work onsite in Harrison, OH (no relocation assistance available)
