Overview
We are seeking a full-time Certified Nurse Aide Instructor/Coordinator for a combination of instruction at the Harrisburg Main Campus and/or the Carmi Campus starting Fall 2026. This is a full-time tenure-track position with primary teaching and coordination responsibilities in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. This position implements and evaluates the nursing aide program on an ongoing basis, participating in curriculum development, program revisions, program evaluations, and the evaluation of student achievement, as well as other matters as assigned, in accordance with the College’s mission and core values.
Responsible for providing direction as well as mentorship and support to students in achieving their educational goals. Commitment to program development and consistent participation in campus-wide, divisional, and committee activities is also expected.
Full-time tenure-track teaching and coordination in the CNA program, including implementation and ongoing evaluation of the nursing aide program; participation in curriculum development, program revisions, program evaluations, and evaluation of student achievement; providing direction, mentorship, and support to students; and contributing to campus-wide, divisional, and committee activities in alignment with the College’s mission and core values.
Qualifications- Education:
ADN required, BSN preferred. - Licensure:
Unencumbered Illinois Registered Nursing (RN) license. - Certification:
Current AHA BLS CPR card. Current AHA BLS Instructor preferred (must be willing to obtain). - Experience:
Minimum of two years of RN nursing experience and one year of experience in one of the following areas:- i) Teaching theory in an accredited nurse training program;
- ii) Providing nursing care, including personal care and activities of daily living, to older adults or for chronically ill adults; or
- iii) One year of experience in the provision of long term care facility services or direct care.
- Train the Trainer Program:
Registered professional nurses with a BSN degree or higher are exempt from this requirement. Sole Instructors & Program Coordinators Must be an RN with 2+ years’ experience teaching in a BNATP or accredited nursing program or successfully completed the Train the Trainer course. - Continuing
Education:
Each instructor must provide documentation of completion of a Department-approved specialized workshop, course, seminar, continuing education unit, or other approved training in Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias, totaling at least four hours or four CEU credits. Registered professional nurses with a BSN or higher are not exempt from this requirement.
Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience, based on the SICEA Salary Schedule.
