The Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) consists of subject‑matter experts in housing, domestic abuse, education, drug and alcohol supportுக, youth work and mental health for adults and children. MDT workers deliver specialist knowledge and therapeutic insight within community or family homes and work within frontline social work teams to re‑engage families, restore hope and foster sustainable change.
The RoleThe Mental Health Coordinator will design and deliver creative and dynamic support for children and young people with emotional and mental health difficulties, using a range of therapeutic interventions that meet the holistic needs of families.
Accountabilities- Initiate and support innovative ways to engage children, young people and families in partnership with colleagues and third‑sector partners.
- Deliver advice and consultation on child and adolescent mental health issues, perspectives and frameworks to colleagues and other professionals.
- Raise knowledge and awareness of child and adolescent mental health issues and preventative strategies across the service.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case records, produce reports, attend court and give verbal presentations as required, and actively participate in family meetings.
- Build strong working relationships across the organisation and partner agencies.
- Achieve specific individual and shared targets and objectives defined annually within the performance management framework.
- Hold an accredited degree or diploma‑level qualification in mental health nursing or an equivalent discipline, with evidence of excellent practice.
- Demonstrate significant experience in developing support packages, accurate recording and thorough assessment, all delivered in line with trauma‑informed principles that prioritise safety, trust and empowerment.
- Show experience applying a range of therapeutic intervention models with children and young people.

- Use trauma‑informed practice to tailor interventions, promote emotional safety and enable families to overcome challenges and build long‑term stability.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of vulnerability and safeguarding protocols, and a capability to integrate trauma‑informed strategies into risk assessments and safety planning.
- Build collaborative and influential partnerships within the multi‑agency environment.
The role requires mobile travel throughout Essex and beyond, including transporting service users and their belongings. A valid driving licence and a car or other suitable arrangements to meet mobility requirements are essential.
