We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and committed Primary Care Team at Lister Medical Centre.
The role involves providing treatment, preventative services, chronic disease management, health screening, patient education and audit activities.
The postholder will play an active role in the ongoing development of clinical services, ensuring care is safe, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of our diverse patient population.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, strong communication, and a proactive approach to improving patient outcomes. They will be confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, committed to maintaining high standards of care and supporting the practice in meeting its clinical and organisational objectives.
Main duties of the job- Work autonomously within the NMC Code and practice guidelines.
- Chronic disease management including Asthma, COPD and Diabetes.
- Provide cervical cytology screening, deliver immunisations and travel vaccinations.
- Participate in clinical governance and protocol development.
- Accurate documentation of patient consultations.
- Safe handling of samples, PPE, sharps and clinical waste.
- Comply with practice health and safety policies.
- Contribute to audits and research activities.
- Ensure respectful, non-judgemental care and maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with GDPR.
Lister Medical Centre is based in Harlow, Essex.
We are a well-established, friendly teaching practice, and our dedicated team includes 8 GPs, 4 Emergency Care Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Nursing Associates, 2 Physician Associate, 4 HCAs and 17 admin/support staff. We have been providing a full range of GP services for over 30 years and have a patient list size of over 21,000 patients.

Person Specification Other- Able to work in a calm and organised manner in situations of extreme workload.
- Ability to respond to potential emergency situations.
- Willingness to attend training as deemed appropriate.
- To provide a range of GP care including:
- -Routine immunisations for infant, child and adult
- - Family planning advice
- - Wound care and Suture removal
- Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding issues.
- Understanding of clinical governance its significance and impact upon practice
- Experience of Chronic Disease Management:
- - Diabetes management
- - Asthma management
- -COPD management
- - Other care as per GMS
- Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Evidence of continued professional development and ongoing learning.
- Experience in GP practice work.
- Cervical cytology trained and registered.
- Up to date BLS and Anaphylaxis.
- Infection Control
- Knowledge of CQC Regulations
- Experience of working with QOF
- Experience of working with PGDs
- Experience of working in System One
- Basic IT skills in word processing and email
- Good communication skills and record keeping
