Job DescriptionThe AC Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems across the campus. This position ensures a comfortable and safe environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Hiring Range is $49,084 - $53,992 USD Annual. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Essential Functions- Demonstrate TSTC's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in all interactions with stakeholders, customers, students, and community members.
- Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning systems, refrigeration units, and related equipment.
- Assist with ensuring all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards.
- Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
- Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
- Coordinate with other departments to address facility needs while providing regular updates to supervisor.
- Perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30‑60 lbs), often in awkward positions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- EPA license or ability to obtain one within the first year of employment.
- 1‑3 years combined training in apprenticeship and experience in trade.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.
- Significant physical effort and strength required daily, often involving awkward postures and moderate lifting.
- Regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
- Occasional exposure to minor hazards controlled by safety precautions.
