Provides direct supervision and care for youth in a community-based halfway house facility; ensures safety and security of youth, staff, and the public. Helps youth progress in learning to identify and manage stress and trauma reactions and respond in socially appropriate ways. Uses intervention methods to address behavioral issues and supports learning and correcting behavior. Maintains a safe environment and employs security measures when needed.
Engages with youth with understanding of brain development in youth with complex trauma. Maintains healthy relationships and boundaries and recognizes progress and good choices.
Responsibilities include facilitating youth rehabilitation, supervising youth, coaching personal development per individualized treatment plans; facility maintenance, cleanliness, sanitation, and youth hygiene; monitoring policy adherence; and completing required forms. Works assigned shift, may be on-call, and may exceed 40 hours per week. Occasional travel may be required.
Career Ladder Promotion Opportunity: This position is in the approved TJJD career ladder for Juvenile Correctional Officers. Career ladder salary adjustments are based on eligibility criteria. Placement depends on experience and education; progression to the top pay level depends on experience and performance.
Pre-Service Training Academy Requirement: Newly hired or rehired JCOs separated more than 18 months must attend the pre-service training academy and complete on-the-job training full-time. JCOs returning within 18 months may be placed in full-time status on employment.

Juvenile Correctional Officer III – Halfway House;
